On June 14th, the family company Lumar received the award of excellence for family companies at the meeting of family entrepreneurship World Entrepreneur of the Year (WEOY) in Monaco. The company’s CEO, Marko Lukić, was excited to have received the confirmation that they are also recognised as a quality family company globally: “To be classified among the best family companies is a great honour for our company. Above all it is a confirmation that we have been doing well in the past and that our long-term orientation towards the construction of sustainably designed houses is on the money. Such an award is also an additional confirmation of the significance and value of family companies which in Slovenia make up more than 80% of all companies and employ 70% of the working population. On the other hand, such an award presents great responsibility for it binds us to work even better in the future, especially upon the transition from the classical centrally-managed family company to the complex-structured company. Namely, the company is growing extremely fast and the key challenge for the future is how to preserve the values and identity of a family company while developing appropriately for the time and place at the same time.” The WEOY event, organised by the international company EY, rewards the best family companies from 25 countries around the world.
